Ambassador call on Governor of Tokyo Metropolitian Government

 

               

         Tokyo (June 14, 2013) –Ambassador Farukh Amil (فاروق عامل) called on Governor Tokyo Mr. Naoki Inose. They discussed matters of mutual interest such as urban development, transportation systems, and also sports, culture, economic, trade and political relations between Japan and Pakistan. The Governor expressed sympathy with the people of Pakistan over the earthquakes in recent years. The Governor said that after the Great East Japan Earthquake of 2011, Japan was still under the process of rehabilitation. Fortunately, now 97% of schools and 83% of hospitals in the Tokyo Metropolitan area had anti-earthquake buildings. He hoped that in future most of the buildings in Tokyo will be built with anti-earthquake technology. He said that the Tokyo Metropolitan Government was helping many countries with technical knowledge to construct earthquake-proof buildings. He offered Pakistan the same help and assistance to train people how to prepare for and deal with future earthquakes.

          The Ambassador thanked the Governor for the help and assistance by the Government of Japan over the decades to build infrastructure in Pakistan. He also expressed appreciation that this unconditional help and assistance was rendered with respect and dignity. Japan’s help during the 2005 earthquake and 2010 floods was not to be forgotten. The Ambassador said the Pakistan would surely welcome the help of the experienced Tokyo Metropolitan Government in training and in the construction of earthquake-resistant buildings in Pakistan. The Ambassador stated that major cities in Pakistan could learn from the urban development and management experience including that of transportation systems from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.
