Ambassador addresses Pakistan Japan Business Forum (PJBF)


    Tokyo (February 06, 2013)— Ambassador Farukh Amil was speaking today at the workshop organized by the Pakistan Japan Business Forum(PJBF) at the Embassy of Pakistan, Tokyo and also later at the Board of Investment/JICA seminar hosted by the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi.

2.     The Ambassador said that Pakistan-Japan relations had 60 years of diplomatic and business interaction. JICA had decades of experience in training and development. The Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi had been in Pakistan for 60 years. This underscored the longevity of the enduring business and development relationship between the two countries.

3.    The Ambassador said that globalization coupled with technological advances meant that the world business environment was constantly shifting. These shifting sands required rapid reaction and, more importantly, wise and anticipatory policies.

4.    At both the PJBF and BOI/JICA events the Ambassador alongwith his Economic team at the Embassy urged the Japanese businessman to come to Pakistan where they would find many opportunities and a culture of hospitality and hard work. The Ambassador said that the public and private sectors had to play complementary roles in order to strengthen bilateral economic relations. With regard to small and medium scale enterprises in Pakistan, he said Pakistan could learn so much from the Japanese experience. SME’s which were the critical engines of growth provided the livelihoods and employment for thousands of people.

5.    The PJBF was attended by 18 Japanese and Pakistan business groups and the daylong BOI/JICA event saw an impressive participation of over 70 companies.
