Meeting with AEON Group

      Ambassador Farukh Amil along with the trade and economic team of the Embassy visited AEON to meet the Senior Executive Vice President Mr. Hiroshi Yokoo and senior executives of the company.  The Ambassador congratulated them on earning the highest operating revenue in Japan’s retail industry for two consecutive fiscal years. In the meeting the Ambassador underlined the Government’s focus on restructuring the economy and infrastructure and assured that Pakistan was on a positive trajectory of growth and development. The Ambassador suggested training young people from Pakistan to learn the Japanese corporate management culture. In order to help Pakistan create jobs for young population, he requested his support for market access for Pakistani textile products on the lines of the EU. He urged him to personally visit Pakistan at the time of Joint Government Business Dialogue, meet the partners in business and prosperity, and see for themselves just as the members of the strong Japanese delegation to Expo 13 did.

 

      Mr. Yokoo thanked the Ambassador for visiting AEON and informed that AEON Top Value Co. Ltd, currently engaged in sourcing from Pakistan, was one of the trading companies of AEON Group, dealing with import/export, processing and wholesale of clothing, food and household’s goods. The brand had grown into the largest private brand in Japan i.e. approx 7 billion dollar sales of the brand last year. They believed that Asia and the Pacific Rim offered the greatest potential and as the core of future global economic development, this region is expected to witness a rapid expansion in its middle-income population and a consequent explosion in consumption. He expressed keen interest in Pakistan in the near future and said that the briefing by the Ambassador was very informative. Sharing the new marketing plan of the company he said Pakistan stood a good chance to be a potential sourcing country of textiles, mangoes and halal food products. He assured support for the upcoming Joint Government Business Dialogue in Islamabad.
