Tokyo (March 11, 2013) – Today in marking  the second Anniversary  the Great East Japan Earthquake the Ambassador Farukh Amil (فاروق عامل) on behalf of the people and Government of Pakistan expressed Pakistan’s deep condolences to the people and Government of Japan. The Ambassador participated in the Commemoration organized by the Government of Japan at the National Theatre, Tokyo.

This solemn occasion was graced by the Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress. His Majesty the Emperor delivered a speech. The Prime Minister also made a speech alongwith other leading personalities including the Speaker of the House of Representatives, President of the House of Councillors and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. A minute silence was observed for those lost in the disaster at 2.46 p.m. Alongwith other Ambassadors and in the presence of the Prime Minister and Japan’s entire political leadership, the Ambassador placed a bouquet of flowers in the memory of those who passed away.

Senior officials of the Embassy also travelled today to Fukushima, one of the badly affected Prefectures, to attend a ceremony arranged by the Governor and to convey the condolences of the Government of Pakistan. Other senior officials visited the temple Shiba Zojoji Temple in Minato-Ku, Tokyo for a remembrance service.
